Ards Friary is a Capuchin Franciscan spiritual centre set within the forest on a beautiful setting overlooking the scenic coastline. The friary provides the ideal haven for individuals who wish to get away for a while or for more formal group retreats. After exploring the scenic pathways and newly developed walking trails, you can unwind at Cinos Café where the aroma of freshly brewed cappuccinos invites you to linger. This charming coffee shop, located within the friary, serves as a cosy spot to relax and recharge while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Whether you’re seeking spiritual reflection, outdoor adventure, or simply a great cup of coffee, Ards Friary is a place of natural beauty with warm hospitality.
Ards Friary Retreat and Contemplative Ecology Centre, situated on 200 acres of woodland along Sheephaven Bay in County Donegal, offers a diverse range of retreats designed to refresh the body, mind, and spirit. Led by Ards staff, colleagues, and visiting facilitators, these retreats support individuals on their religious and spiritual journeys, both in Ireland and internationally. The 2024 retreat program includes offerings such as the “Winter: A Time of Waiting with Hope Retreat,” the “Advent Retreat: A God with Skin On,” and the “Spiritual Hunger and the Artistic Soul Retreat,” among others. Participants can engage in quiet reflection, prayer, and creative exploration within the serene natural surroundings of the friary.

Sunday 11.00 – 7.00pm (Closed 5.15-6.15pm for Mass)
All year round : 8.00 am in the Oratory chapel

Cino’s Café: Located on-site, Cino’s Café provides a warm and welcoming space to relax with a cup of coffee or enjoy freshly prepared sandwiches, soups and home baking making it a perfect complement to the peaceful retreat experience.
