PLAN
Fort Dunree is located just seven miles north of Buncrana on a site that commands majestic views of Lough Swilly and its shorelines. The museum houses a fascinating display of military memorabilia, artefacts and an array of 20th century guns. There is also a wildlife discovery room and over 3km of stunning walkways with a series of signposted footpaths that allow the visitor to explore at their own pace. After the experience of the museum, you can relax in the comfort of the waterfront Coffee Cup Café where you can take in the stunning views over the scenic waters of Lough Swilly and enjoy a well-earned refreshment!
It indicates that this site has been an important defensive site down through history. Today however, its stunning natural beauty and abundant wildlife are drawing increasing numbers of visitors to one of Inishowen’s most beautiful and peaceful locations. It is a must see for every visitor to the Inishowen peninsula.
